Compensation for AP changes?
Had a reward trip booked that routed from YVR -> SFO -> SIN that had a 12 hour layover in San Fran (which I wanted). AP just informed me that they were changing the ticket to YVR -> HKG -> SIN with a 5 hr layover in HKG (I dont want).
Is this something that I can compensated for, or am I outta luck since my final destination is the same? If so, what should I be asking for? |
Welcome To FlyerTalk.
Just call in and state you have already book and paid (non-refund) a local tour at SFO for your initial 12 hours layover, hence this will not work. But do first research what route are available before you call, so you can present that option to the phone agent right now. Also the YVR-HKG flight will be on the new 777HD, so if you are one of the people that do not like the new config, this can be another reason for your complain as well. |
Tell them you want the original routing, with the SFO connection.
What was the reason for the change - probably schedule change, but which flight changed? |

My original flight plan was UA378 - YVR -> SFO - 319 SQ3 - SFO -> SIN - 77W If I were to hazard a guess, it'd be the SQ3 flight getting changed? I have no clue how to check it though. My new flight plan is AC7 - YVR -> HKG - 77W UA895 - HKG -> SIN - 777 |
I pick a random date in April 2014 on www.staralliance.com and it does show no direct flight available between SFO and SIN, only connection at various locations. And no SQ3 listed. Also from the quick Google and it seems SQ3 is a SFO-HKG-SIN flight, i.e. a 1-stop direct flight (I think that is how they say it), this is what it show:
Departure - San Francisco Intl (SFO) at 2350 Arrival - Changi Intl (SIN) at 1200 +2 Days Time 21h10m There are 2 other flights showing from SQ that are 1-stop direct flight - SQ1 & SQ15. SQ1 go thru HKG that leave at 1:15am while SQ15 leave at 2:20pm via ICN I would try to ask the Aeroplan agent to force SQ to open the seat(s) on SQ1 for you, as it is SQ that stop the SQ3 service. Good Luck. |
What dates are you flying?
When I check the schedules, I see 2 SQ flights daily - one leaving around noon, and one leaving around midnight, every day for the next several months. SQ 1 and SQ 15. I also see no trace of SQ 3 on any date. Something is fishy. |

Thanks for all the help everyone! Really appreciate all the tips. It'll be up to SQ to open up availability, or place you in a revenue fare class. Generally I've found the sked change people very helpful, and actually call you back when they say they will. |

IME the sked change department can call the other airline to confirm what protection arrangements SQ in this case made.

She offered a full refund which doesn't work. I asked about an upgrade on my existing route.. again no go. Have to call back in 10 days to see if SQ opens up. ARGGG! |

What class are you in?
SQ 1 on Oct 26 is sold out except for 4 First Class seats. SQ 15 on Oct 26 has seats available in all classes. Still curious abour SQ 3. What time was it supposed to depart - I cannot find any trace of this flight number anywhere. |

I do not think SQ15 will fit OP current plan/schedule as the org SQ3 leave around midnight. so for SQ15, OP will require stay a night at SFO. |
