AC7 Today

Noticed AC 7 today is late leaving YVR. Appears the inbound a/c (operating AC 855) is late leaving LHR. Does anyone know why? My family is traveling today and I want to know whether they will get compensation for operational reasons. I am pretty sure they will now need to overnight in HKG before their final leg to CGK.

AC855 turned from 848 YYZ/LHR which was severely delayed leaving Toronto which I would imagine was due to the storms yesterday in Ontario.

AC7 Today

My family will most certainly have to overnight in HKG. I hope AC will put them up in a hotel. Any ideas which hotel and any other compensation they may get (meals, etc.)?

Is it all part of the same ticket, or is HKG to CGK booked separately?

Impressive. This is the first thread related to yesterdays numerous delays and diversions.
Were there no FTers in Eastern Canada yesterday?
Looks like AC7 will depart about 17:15 today.
Some of the fleet won't get caught up until monday.

I'm scheduled on AC 1 this afternoon to NRT. Flight delayed by about an hour and it seems most flights to Asia are delayed due to late inbound - ripple effect of storm yesterday apparently.

I was trying to get out of YUL yesterday afternoon. It was no fun. But I arrived, only 8 hours late.

Booked on CX on the same ticket. Wonder what AC may do for them upon arrival in HKG?

It's called credit cars travel insurance. It still amazes me how many people fly without it.

I was able to sneak into YOW from YEG yesterday afternoon, we had to divert about 300 miles north at around Sudbury/North Bay in order to skirt the storms, then down to YOW, landing about an hr before the first cells made it here...driving yesterday afternoon was a hoot, haven't had storms like that in a year.

For a weather delay? Not unless they're in J or have status.

I thought I heard the lounge dragon at YUL yesterday mention that hotel room/food vouchers are provided when a passenger is stranded in the middle of a trip (such as at a connecting point). That might explain why you got a hotel last time you were stuck at YUL.

In regards to the OP, AC might provide compensation as you are in such a case.

There was a comment made about being "in transit", but I find it somewhat hard to believe that there were only 10 passengers flying YUL-SFO, late in the day, who didn't originate in YUL.

My theory is that as long as I'm willing to sleep on an airport bench, I'll keep booking trips the way I do (at least until I build up enough US credit to get a card with trip delay insurance). But I would never count on an airline to provide me a place to sleep due to weather delays.
