I cannot say enough good things about the concierge staff.
In LAX there is David who is extremely helpful. There are the numerous ladies at YYZ who have helped me many many many times. Some of the items they have helped me in the past are: they met my late evening flight, when I was travelling from Central America, with flowers that I had requested for my wife's birthday, taken care of flights where there have been cancellations, in ORD take took care of a FedEx letter that needed to go out after working on some docs on the flight, they have helped me in YEG, YVR and of course the ladies at FRA. Concierge take the time to listen and help you out at a time when very few of AC front-line staff are willing to. Cheers |
My experience with concierges is still fairly limited, but I was very impressed in LHR a couple of weeks ago. I had no particclular needs, but Paula went out of her way to let me know that she and the other concierges there were available to help out, and she escorted myself and another SE to the aircraft door when we were late. The HNL crew have also been wonderful.

Do not confuse the concierges at the SE desk with the airport onsite concierges.
My understanding is that the concierges on the SE desk are a completely outsourced group providing general travel support services to SE members. The at airport concierges are uniformed AC employees. While the mandate of the two groups overlap to a certain extent I think their field of expertise is vastly different. This is my understanding - please correct me if I'm wrong. |
Well given the postive nature of the replies, I called to take advantage of the service in YYZ.
I'm flying my mother-in-law out to Calgary for the Easter weekend (boy let me tell you married guys - this is huge brownie points http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/biggrin.gif ). Anyway, the last 2 times I did this, nothing but problems. She missed her flight entirely one time because she forgot her pills at home (managed to get on the next one out but neglected to let me know while I'm waiting and waiting for her!) and the second time, she left her coat and reading glasses at Timmy's! Not a smart thing to do when coming to Calgary in the middle of the winter! So I figured I'd see if the Concierge could help out this time around. Just got off the phone - nothing but kudo's for the help they offered. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/thumbsup.gif They will meet her when she arrives at the airport, guide her thru the check-in with luggage and generally make sure everything happens as it should. Sounds wonderful to me. I will update this at the end of the month once I find out how it really finishes but so far, it's left a very positive impression on me. |

I have always found the airport based concierge's to be first class.
If I ever had any problems while at the airport I would contact them, they have the power the correct mistakes and over-rule the counter staff (of they could when I was last in the air). If you have a problem, give them a try. Stewart. |
More kudos for the concierge staff!
I loved them when I was a platinum at Canadian and was pleased that AC adopted the function upon takeover. I've had great interaction with them in YVR-HNL routes, Tokyo, Hong Kong, LHR. I've never seen them in the US though. Perhaps they exist.... Like others, it may be one of the only perks I really value anymore.... |
Just by way of follow-up ...
My (early teen) kids flew by themselves YYZ - FLL earlier this week and I enlisted the help of the YYZ concierge office to shepherd them thru check-in, US Customs & Immigration, Security etc. I arranged it in advance so they were prepared. As usual they were great - obliging, considerate and efficient. Just love the service! Lornag - further to my earlier post I have met the concierges at select US destinations - LGA and LAX. They are pretty visible if you know what to look for (dressed in black uniforms with 'concierge' tags on lapel). |
