GE, Boeing Issue 777-300ER Alert

According to this Airwise.com story, two incidents of an engine shutdown on the new 777-300ER because of a gearbox problem have brought an alert for inspections to be issued. This engine is used on the AC aircraft.

The GE90-115B is the only engine option on the 773ER but it appears that this gearbox issue only affects a small subset of those engines that have been built recently - likely including the spanking new cattle cars AC has but not the older aircraft.

Apparently the AD only affects the last 30 delivered 77Ws. None of which went to Air Canada.
