Priority Check-in

Search the AC website and the FT forum without luck so if this has been answered before appreciate if you can point me in the right direction.

I'm an E50 flying YYC/LAS traveling with my brother. I booked his flight using my areoplan points (classic Plus) and on the receipt under Ticket Particularities it reflects my AP number.

Therefore can he use the Priority Check in, and boarding lines as well?

Thx!

If he's travelling with you he will have access to priority services. Otherwise, no.

I get the sense from your post that he is travelling with you. I've never had an issue with checking in at the priority line nor with priority boarding with my travelling companion(s).

Sorry if it wasn't clear. We are traveling together, in fact side by side. However as I booked my flight through the ac website paying out of pocket, and I booked his flight through the areoplan website using points. Hence we have two different confirmation numbers........not sure if that is an issue or not?

Shouldn't be an issue at all.

Do it a couple of times a year with my wife, me on regular ticket her on AP reward.

Boarding/check in etc together. On UA if you combine reservation or book together even prints boarding pass with same zone as mine.

Do this all the time as you describe - like others, no issues at all. For any checked baggage, it would be under your name if you want to use the Priority Luggage tag option.

The "more correct" answer, as per ACAltitude is:

"The rule is that membership benefits are on an individual basis. However, common sense will prevail..."

If you are traveling together then there will be no problems!

Have a great trip.

My statement was not untrue, although I misread OP's original question. If a non-status pax is travelling alone he doesn't have access to priority services. If he is travelling with a status pax, then he will.

Priority Check-in

I once had a check in agent @ MIA gleefully announce to me that I'll see if the priority tags work - he had tagged my bag and not my non status companion. I was too shocked to say anything :). Fair enough if those are the rules, but I think he enjoyed telling me that a little too much!

As far as I knew you only got your companions bags tagged as priority if you checked them in under your name rather than his. I'm probably wrong but that was my understanding and I always check my wife's bags for her.

If I'm travelling with non-status pax I will check their bags under my own name to avoid this.

This can present issues at customs though - I was once scolded as technically they want bags tagged under the pax that owns them.
