I ordered my 250K gift of 75K miles on Dec.25 and it posted same day. The only options were AP miles or SPG stay (I think a 3-night stay) so definitely no comparison. I've always gone for the miles and been satisfied because I've been able to use them relatively easily, probably because I've primarily not used them for popular segments (e.g. YYZ/YVR). That said, even if the MacBook Air gift had still been an option, I think 75K AP miles is worth about the same or more.

Ultimately, it's a matter of personal preference, but I do agree with the general sentiment that AC seems to have been rather stingy with the actual gift inventory available at the higher redemption levels. Surprising (but shouldn't be) given the relatively small numbers of members potentially redeeming those gifts......

I just email the threshold gift people and they set stuff up for me pdq after that. If you just "wait" for it you will wait a d@mn long time.

What gifts are you choosing?

i have one family member who crossed 60K as E50, and chose 1500 status miles.

She will cross 90K as E75 in December...what's there to choose?

And I am crossing 150K shortly as SE100, no idea what to pick, nor what's available.
