I just caught up with all the posts.

So, it looks like I will be one of those SEs who will never get a gift. Currently sitting at about 42k AQM & 89 AQS with E75K status. Short haul sux.

For the 60k Altitude threshold gift, how long has one decide what gift to take? It might make the difference between going for the 1500 status miles versus the 5000 AP miles.

I selected the NA Latitude Flight Pass for my 250K threshold gift awhile ago... when will I actually see it in my account and use it?

Perhaps this belongs in the "revenue maximization" thread, as it is the main obstacle to a greater AC spend from me each year.

I reach 100K easily. But cannot reach 200K. I find the threshold gifts at 150K are not worth my bother. So, human nature I suppose, after I reach 100K each year, I start to run out of steam for AC and Star Alliance and choose other carriers more often, even for slightly better convience of schedule or cost.

I find myself highly motivated and incentivized to choose AC up to 100K and then, suddenly, not so much at all.

Threshold gifts are a great incentive and a good business development program by AC, but they could be used more powerfully to extract incremental business from 100K flyers like myself who would stay on track to 135K, 150K, maybe even 175K if better incentivized to do so.

I jut crossed over 175000 miles. After I qualify for SE I decided that I would review all other options for international travel, including aircraft type. So far AC has won out, but it looks like my next trip to Asia will be a different carrier. Once an SE, it is not the loyalty plan that keeps me flying with AC. Just too difficult to redeem AE miles for the reward travel I try to book, even with the fact I am now over 2milion miles on AC metal!

I agree completely - the lack of incentive has me six months AC, then six months oneworld for the last few years. It is nice to have SE/BA gold though......

UA messed up my itinerary and shortchanged me with a different booking class on an NH flight, so I lost about 1500 miles. UA also had a schedule change, and would only route me through certain cities, again, messing up my carefully booked itineraries.

I've written to both UA and AE, but I'm not taking chances - I took the 1500 AQM threshold gift, even though I'll hit SE by Jan. 1/14.

Otherwise, I'd have taken the 5000 regular Aeroplan miles.

For 90K, I'll pick the 15K or Amazon certificate.

Oh wow you just made me realize something.

I was a little worried about hitting 75k before the early recognition deadline, so I was going to do something like SFO-YVR-YUL-YYZ and YYZ-YVR-SFO for Thanksgiving. If I take the 1500 bonus AQM, then I can do SFO-YVR-YYZ and YYZ-SFO instead. That might be worth doing. Thanks

No problem, C!

Good catch in realizing my 1500 aqm choice related directly to the early recognition cutoff. I had forgotten to mention that in my post. Losing the 3500 difference hurts slightly, but better safe than sorry. My sister and I are traveling during the holidays, and I'd rather have the e upgrade credits and the extra window for that opportunity.

BTW, the threshold gift link was active immediately on my Altitude dashboard as soon as the miles posted. It took 3 days to post, but that was due to crossing the date line. Otherwise, would have been 2.

Update: I emailed the Altitude Threshold Gift email address and they responded immediately with apologies on the tardiness of crediting my account with the flight NA flight pass. Shortly thereafter I received another email confirming that my account has been credited... and lo and behold it was in my account as stated. ^

My 1500 AQMs just got deposited, so it's slightly over 24 hrs after my request. And now the mailbox watch begins.

How long had you been waiting?

Also, any idea if the Latitude NA 4-credit pass provides J upgrades at 48 hours like a normal latitude pass?

The TOC states that upgrades can be achieved by using eUpgrades, but not language around upgrading at the T-48h window. I guess I could make a mock booking and wait until T-48 to see what I get!

Thanks for the information. Any updates on the T-48 hour upgrade capacity (or lack thereof)? It sure changes the value proposition of the pass. I'm considering the NA pass when I cross 250k for the purpose of booking Hawaii because R space is so difficult to snag on award itineraries. Of course, if the pass doesn't trump other gate upgrades it may not meet the need.

Thanks,

SG

Make the mock booking (assuming it is free to cancel and return the credit like the other Lat passes) then in 'my booking', select the upgrade button- if it is indeed the 48hr comp J version, you will be given the choice to upgrade (if R>0) with ecredits or some kind of text regarding 48 hr comp. As it is only 1 eup, I rarely wait for the window for the comp up unless I am really last minuting!
