There was an awesome made for tv movie 'bout this which I recorded on VHS about 12 or 15 years ago. From what I recall they used the wrong plane during filming and made a lot of mistakes. It's $299 on Amazon or I'd buy it :(

Keep in mind that no movie is truly made for tv... it was likely intended to be a hollywood hit that didn't get very far :D

In that case it may be more amusing than interesting, but that is still good. Too bad they couldn't get Adam West to play the pilot...

I know it is a movie, but I just could net get past all the mistakes in this, distracted me from the (great) story. Classic case of getting in the way of the story.

Mayday video is much better in my opinion.

$299 lol

Just an unbelievable, stranger than fiction story. I mean come on, who would ever believe that AC operated 767s on domestic routes that didn't involve YYZ!!! :D

HerpaYvr Feb 22, 2013 8:40 am

It is funny when you look back and recall AC used the 767 for YVR/YYZ/YUL flights incluidng YEG/YYC. Those wide bodies were used on many domestic routes!

The movie or the airplane?

I vividly recall being in YWG when it touched down in Gimli and it was BIG news. Thanks for the note, OP!

I remember being on a 767 on YVR-YYC and it wasn't that long ago. 3-4 years maybe?

My most ridiculously oversized plane was a Varig 777 CDG-AMS about 10 years ago. Plane was 10% full, and that thing took off like a rocket!

$299 lol

I just finished re-watching it to commemorate the sale and found it quite enjoyable. My favorite part was the DYKWIA SE :p

Only the most vigilant observer will pick out the mistakes - I didn't find they distracted at all. The three I picked up were:

1) Inside is a 747

2) Outside is a 737

3) Altimeter was off quite a few times.

Other than that it's a good movie, though admittedly not worth $299 (loooooool)
