The hassle for 2.5k miles is not worth it I think (50pts)... on the other hand if you will be booking and flying AC and have one of the credit cards it's probably worth while as getting points is much easier.

Life may be too short I think.
Segments? I read that as "airlines". ie you fly 10x UA, counts as once. Or am I far too pessimistic? hehe

Decided not to go for this... Too much work this time around, and not enough flights for the dates... Too bad.

You're right...

STAR ALLIANCE AND OTHER AIR TRAVEL PARTNERS
Aeroplan Members will earn a total of 3 Stars for each participating Star Alliance
member airline they fly with (regardless of how many segments are flown with
each participating carrier listed below) during the Promotional Period

Oh man. It IS airlines not segments.

This is going to be a PR disaster for them. They made it too easy last time, now they over-rotated. This thing is way too hard to get, and way too complex. They'll have 1000s who think they got there, but didn't.

I appreciate the efforts of everyone here in saving me the hassle of paying attention to this.

It's segments for AC/AC Express, no?

This shouldn't be that hard for us - buy $10 stuff x 20 at SObeys, buy $10 x 10 at rexall, fillup x 10 at Esso, plus 4 upcoming AC segments should do it...

It's a bit easier for those who have Rexall/Sobeys. I only have Esso->Sobeys->Aeroplan, which means I need like $20 of gas per day. This is NOT happening

I'm lucky - got a Rexall and Sobeys right next to each other on way home.

At least you have Uniprix instead of Rexall.
But agree that sucks we don't have any grocery store which works in Qc...

24 Esso. I think I can buy $120 in gas for the car in the next 5 weeks... I just don't use that much gas. So it'll be a bunch of $10 purchases. Got my Speedpass ready to go, so I don't have to rely on the clerks. Or bug them for a manual Aeroplan transaction for $10.

8 Rexall. $10 transactions are a little tougher at Rexall, but doable.
0 eStore. Not sure... I'll look around.
48 Sobeys. This is going to have to be my go-to spend. I'll need 24 purchases on 24 different days. Could be tough.
[COLOR="Red"]Question: I read a minimum spend of $10 at each merchant. So I take that to mean I need to buy minimum of $10 on products that will generate 5 Aeroplan points. Does that sound right?
There are only ~31 days (March 11 to April 10). You can't do 40 transactions in time.

Oh wait - I'm reading the t&c again and it seems like you can get only get stars from 1 partner per day. So that means you can get credit for activity at two partners, right?

The Esso T&C are also confusing:
1 Some exclusions apply:
Purchase of alcoholic beverages or tobacco products
Purchase of Esso gift cards (Aeroplan Miles will be awarded when Esso gift cards are redeemed for eligible purchases)
Cash transactions at isolated terminals, including coin-operated car washes and similar transactions
Cash advances
Purchase of any used items (including, but not limited to, used cars)
Bottle deposits
So can you earn buying other gift cards if Esso sells other gift cards?

I made it last year despite being in Japan for 10 days. This year, it seems hopeless. I have already booked my flights in that time period, and the other requirements are too steep. So, therefore, not even going to try.
