Double Miles - Adjustment

Would you Invest in an Aeroplan IPO?

Check your Aeroplan statement carefully:

AP is applying double miles adjustment to Account holders who DID NOT participate in double Q miles promo too.

Esentially wiping out Wave of Miles promo, probably intentional too!

not sure i understand your remarks.my double miles were posted ok but I'm not aware of any Q mile promotion for extra miles and was not awarded any q miles for any promotions last fall.Could you please explain

jakpot Jan 24, 2002 10:50 am

Clarification: 9,000 of the double miles I received as part of 'Wave of miles' promotion have been taken away by Aeroplan.

I was not part of any other promotion, they have made a mistake.

Still no call from Aeroplan.

Called them again, same response...no one knows whats going on. Both times, the agent agrees there is a problem with my account.

What a mess, I would not invest in an Aeroplan IPO. Too disorganised, too many errors.

Parnel, welcome to FT!

The double Q-miles reference is to a targetted promotion run last year. It sounds like the double-miles "Waves" promotion was supposed to be double-Q-miles for those targetted, but in fact what happened was they got triple miles (base Q-miles, bonus Waves miles, targetted Q-miles), and now AC is taking back the extra non-Q-miles.

But I never participated in double Q miles, only waves of miles.

Wow, Aeroplan actually called me.

Here is the problem, I was supposed to be included in the double Q miles but never was. They are removing the 'waves' miles and replacing with double Q miles in Feb.

As will likely change my status, they won't send out 2002 package until it is confirmed by their tracking software.

Still seems like a mess to me.

So are you going to make SE instead of E?

Ferrari Jan 24, 2002 5:52 pm

Who won the million miles?

In that waves of miles thingy was'nt there a chance to win a million miles?.

Andrew Yiu Jan 24, 2002 5:55 pm

No no... there was a chance to win some trips down south or something. Who knows, AC might call you up next year to inform you that you won an all expense trip to HNL for anytime in 2002. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/biggrin.gif

Now some things are coming clearer to me. The longer hold times at Aeroplan are due to every account being audited for any additional Q miles that may have posted in error. You know spend an hour to remove 500 extra Q-miles from an Elite member. Truly, time well spent. Perhaps if Aeroplan had a better computer system, say similar to the one you-know-who had, they could simply run a program that would fix this long before the end of the qualifying year comes around. Unreal. IMO, Aeroplan managers need to be locked in a room together and severely reprimanded! I for one would love, love to be there to grill them regarding their continued incompetence.

What happens if you wind up with a negative balance and leave it? Do they send a collection agency after you to make up for those miles?

Andrew Yiu Jan 24, 2002 6:47 pm

Of course!! The worse thing is that they usually do the audits couple months after you got the miles and catch you off guard. They don't tell you and they don't explain to you what the "account adjustments" are for.
