New targeted double Q miles promotion

I'm losing track of the targeted AC promotions, so this may be a repeat, but my daughter, who is currently a basic member fairly close to E status, received a promo today advertising double Q-miles (V through J)from Sept 15th-Dec 15th. Has anyone else received this?

DOUBLE Q miles? http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/cool.gif You sure it's not the current double miles promotion?

Oh boy, I would love to get my hand on this one!!

Andrew Yiu Oct 15, 2001 5:18 pm

Is it this one?

Waves of Double Aeroplan Miles are headed your way...

newelite Oct 15, 2001 6:26 pm

to clarify: are these q-miles?

SimonC Oct 15, 2001 6:41 pm

As far as know the "waves" promotion is not "Q" miles - just miles.

Shareholder Oct 15, 2001 10:57 pm

As Academic noted, this is a targetted Q-miles promo, which makes sense if his daughter received it. I suspect that rather than extending status through another year as a few US programs have done, AC did a sweep of their active members and found those who were Prestige or otherwise close to reaching Elite, or looked like they might be slightly short of renewing that status. They were then offered this special promo. Smart move.

In that case, they should also do a sweep of their system and offer those who have qualified/requalified for SE the double Q miles as well just to keep them flying. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

Maybe Academic got it confused with the current waves promotion? It's very substantial to offer double Q miles for everything from V to J for 3 months!

I have been looking at this offer, too. I am not an active Aeroplan member - yet - but am flying LHR-YVR-SYD this Christmas. I called the London Aeroplan office and asked them if I would earn double Q-miles, too, and their answer was yes, i would.

They most likely got it confused that the current double miles promotion are all qualifying miles? I doubt you would get double Q miles especially if you are not even yet an Aeroplan member and if you are travelling during the Peak Christmas period.

Well I have not been getting double Q miles and I have lots of segments under this promo.

It could be a targetted promo at some they know are close but need an "incentive" to fly more. They could see from my history that I will get there so didn't send the promo to me.

InTheAirGuy Oct 16, 2001 6:27 am

can you actually scan the promo into an image and let us read the fine print to see if it is really q-miles or not?

airbus320 Oct 16, 2001 6:29 am

Rats...for a brief moment, I had visions of attaining SE. Be still my heart...

Academic Oct 16, 2001 6:47 am

It really is Q-miles. This was an earn your status more quickly letter. It refers to the regular double miles promotion and says this is an extra benefit over the same time period.

As Shareholder said, this was a targeted letter, addressed personally to my daughter. I assume they flag the recipients of these promos in their PNRs. FWIW, my daughter had some activity early in the year, couple of short hauls in the summer and a very recent long haul on UA. She's only 250 miles short of E status, so this will not make much difference to her.

In the Air Guy: The letter is at home, but I could scan it or fax a copy to you if you like.

Edited for typos

No, that's fine. I'm convinced it really is q-miles with your reply.

BlondeBomber Oct 16, 2001 6:53 am

skeptics eh! http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif

They regularly do these targetted promos, some are tailored individually and others regionally. I rememember several promos available to me in Calgary that were not available elsewhere.

Shows that AC is thinking.
