Flights operated by Air Canada rouge

NOTE: Rouge Wifi information can be found here

Dates in brackets indicate planned start of rouge service (either as a new route or replacing mainline service). ML placed before a date indicates the date that service is reverting to mainline.

All Airbus A319/A321 service is in the new Premium Rouge configuration with 2x2J seats. All other routes are Boeing 767-300ER aircraft in a 24J/258Y layout.

Airport codes in blue indicate that these routes are Boeing 767-300ER aircraft for all services.
Airport codes in red indicate that these routes are split between Boeing 767-300ER and Airbus services.
Airport codes in black indicate that these routes are Airbus aircraft for all services.

Routes are organized based on the established rouge bases of YYZ, YUL, YYC, and YVR

We flew YYZ-ATH in 15AC. It was comfortable.

I have the exact same question. Does anyone have experience on the A321 Rouge? Surely someone must have given it a peak.

Thanks in advance.

I have lots of experience, but only ahead of the curtain.

I would also prefer the seats ahead of the curtain but my bank account doesn't have quite enough dollars in it to justfy $2k extra on a 2.5 hour flight YYZ to TPA.

Rouge is replacing Jazz on YYZ-YQB.

Saw this from my September 2 flight change notification.

This is the beginning of the changes where rouge will take over some regional routes. Made possible with the last update to the Pilot agreement. rouge is taking at least 1 additional A321 from Niki.

Well at least AC can stop with the we'll only use rouge on leisure routes nonsense.

Presumably, everyone wins here except Jazz. The rouge fleet is a definite upgrade over a DH4, as is the availability of a real J product. Plus, rougettes.

Does one need real J on a flight so short?

I guess it gives you an omelette in the AM and cheese or a cold snack in the PM.

No but if you’re flying YQB-YYZ-INTL you can now book the entire journey in J.

This. Plus, it's extra revenue either way for AC. More seats to sell, some of which can be sold for more money. Maybe this'll lead to some genuine leisure routes out of YQB -- I don't know how many sun destination routes are served from YQB, but presumably having the aircraft there means AC can rotate in some of the more popular destinations and save the connection to YUL or YYZ.

Like I said, Jazz seems to lose out the most here.

They readily admitted that wasn't the rule after SFO and LAX.

Exactly. I'm pretty sure I've flown YQB-SFO, and getting an extra hour in J at no extra cost is nice.

I am thrilled to hear that we will get something else than Dash-8 in YQB! I waste plenty of eUp credits every year because I often fly single cabin airplanes. Looks like I will now be able to burn those credits and eat omelettes! I just hope they won’t cut on frequency to compensate the additional capacity.

EDIT: I just checked and yeah, they are cutting frequency, which sucks. Seat capacity stays the same at roughly 680/day but frequency goes from 9 daily YQB-YYZ DH4 flights down to 5 A319 flights. I am not thrilled anymore. The switch happens on July 1st. Losing the late flight out of YYZ (AC8926) especially hurts when flying home with a connection after a day of work.

Same here. I was really stoked to see an alternative to Q400 out of YQB. I never thought I'd be excited to fly Rouge anywhere but I'll take it over a Q400 any day.

I first noticed the Rouge flights 3-4 days ago while looking at flights later this year. Most of the Q400 flights were still there while others were replaced by Rouge. Two days ago, the Q400 flights were removed, at least for the summer (July - October). Removal of the 5 am departure to YYZ (AC8909) is a problem since without this flight, it becomes impossible to make key connections in YYZ, whether international such as morning LHR flight or BGI flight, or connecting onto an early YVR flight to take the YVR-TPE flight. This is no longer possible without the 5 am flight and now requires leaving the day/night before and spending the night in YYZ. At least, AC8909 is back later in the fall (November) as are some of the YYZ-YQB return Q400 flights.

On a separate note, I'll be curious to see how they handle zone boarding in YQB with Premium Rouge "J" cabin. It's always Z1/Z2 together. Always. Maybe there will finally be dedicated Z1 boarding, even if for only 20 seconds!

I've flown YYZ/YUL-USA destinations on Rouge relatively frequently (and, honestly, with much preference to either US DOM carriers or "aircraft" manufactured in Quebec), but not to "sun" destinations. Specifically, not to MEX.

Are there noticeable differences on, say YYZ-MEX vs YYZ-PHX?

Hey there - we're flying BUD-YYZ in July in Prem Rouge. Anyone have any idea what meal choice is like from Europe back to Toronto? Is it one meal upon takeoff and then a snack before landing? Is the snack same as Y or different for Prem Rouge?

Thanks!
