Shared EUpgrades - lounge access?

Hi all,

Sorry if this seems like a dumb question:

I have used my eupgrades to eupgrade a buddy with no status. so for YEG - YYZ he has an R ticket now, and a confirmed seat in executive cabin.

He can simply use his ticket to get into the MLL at YEG at YYZ correct? I know that eupgraded tickets retain the original details of the ticket (so status miles, etc. won't change) but a business ticket should get him departing MLL at YEG, and access to a lounge at YYZ correct? (He connects YEG-YYZ-CDG).

Just wondering if I have to send him along with any of my single use maple leaf lounge tix, or I can save those for someone else.

Thanks!

It should get him in, I've never been carded when upgraded. I'd send along a MLL pass just incase though, if he doesn't use it you get it back ...

Very true, I'll just tell him to use it as last resort... In the event he gets some serious bad service by an AC person, then he has a backup.

+1

Every time I've had J on my boarding pass, I've had no need for my AC*E card for MLL access. Paid J, eupgrade, or even opup once.

Strictly in accordance with the rules, your buddy will need a guest MLL pass to enter because eUpgrade does not include MLL access. It also does not include additional baggage allowance.

However, YMMV depending on the AC staff at the lounge whether he/she will enforce the rule, or will know the rule to enforce. Inconsistency is one of the signature features of flying AC.

On 3 occasions, I've had my bicycle checked for free (J perk) using eupgrades with no hassle.
Back when I was AC*P, during summer promotions, I would use upgrades not when I wanted to fly J, but when I wanted to bring 3 bags and could confirm my upgrade before check-in.

I guess AC is consistently inconsistent.

In my company, this is called "revenue leakage".

As AC is trying to squeeze us with Tango fare and much more expensive Tango fare, 50% Status Miles, etc., its employees are not collecting all the fees that they are supposed to be collecting.
