Wow if you can guarantee an empty seat for $5.00, that's a bargain!

I wonder if you choose the middle seat can you book both seats next to you for $10 and get a full row to yourself?

It seemed to me you could block even two seats for a whole to yourself, I guess that would be another $5 er.:)

"Empty Seat decision will be emailed (4-72 hrs) before departure"

I assume they just look at the empty seats on the plane and arrange seating so these requests are fullfilled.

I'd be intrigued to know how this impacts other passengers. Does their assigned seating get rearranged? Also how is this different from changing your seat assignments at check-in to the get empty rows / seats.

Would be a great option especially on Long Hauls.

Well unless a customer is paying for seat selection then I guess they will be moved to accommodate. I think Firefly has 3 or 4 different types of seats avaible for selection. The reality is the airline is getting to sell a % of a seat that wasn't or isn't going to be sold anyway.

"Also how is this different from changing your seat assignments at check-in to the get empty rows / seats." Well I did this the other-day on AC an hour before I moved myself to an empty row........da bing ended up 3 abreast and the rows behind me had spare middle seats. The difference with this option is that wouldn't happen.

I can just see IROPS now, "Sorry Sir, while there is a seat available, a customer paid $5 for it to remain empty, you've been booked on the first flight tomorrow"

I'm pretty sure they arrange it so 2 people who pay $5 each get an empty seat next to them. $10 for a seat that otherwise is going to be empty seems to be a decent business decision.

All of their planes are in a 2x2 configuration.

$5 seems like a great deal, even on short flights.

True firefly only has 2 across however other airlines that are using the software have 3 abreast and it seems you can book the entire row. IE 2 additional $5 dollars blocked seats.

Where is the "E and SE should have the seat beside them automatically blocked" crowd?
