Unhappy Fuel charges on N. America awards tickets

When did this start?
I was booking a rt flight YYZ-LAX and noticed that total costs increased to $171 from ~$120. I checked and $54 is the fuel surcharges added on.

A few years ago - I believe at the same time they were introduced on international routes. The difference is that AC "included" the fuel surcharge for North America on its revenue tickets, but it is still there for AE.

Increased since when. The AC scamcharge had been there for a while now. Or are you saying the scamcharge amount/percentage had increased again?

54$ anywheres in NA, been like that for a while.

54$ for a YYZ-YOW
54$ for a YUL-YVR

As on the international sectors, there is no logic, its just money to them.
