Out of YYZ, I'd go for one of the western choices. The kaiseki meals from NRT are good.

I enjoy the kaiseki meal choice in both directions. IMHO the best AC J meal in the system.

I had the Kaseiki meal on AC3 ex-YVR a few months ago and was unimpressed.

No recent experience ex-YYZ on the Japan flights.

Slightly OT, YYZ-YVR morning departure a few weeks ago, J was still serving the omelete or maple pancake. No menu. Ice cream and cookies before landing.
Really boring.

I had the Kaiseki on AC001 about 4 weeks ago - it was terrible.
Like others, I usually prefer the kaiseki meals, and think they are usually amongst
AC's best offerings, but that one was just awful. Terrible selection, terrible taste,
and they served the steamed rice on paper ( not bowl), then placed it on a plate
with sauce that dissolved the paper, so that when eating the rice you were
picking shreds of paper at the same time.

and they serve it with paper on SQ/NH too..... the paper is supposed to retain some moisture and not burn the rice in the convection oven......

i never had a problem taking the piece of paper our PRIOR to eating the main course, i believe before they served rice separately in a bowl....but i have to double check the pictures on that.

it appears the kaiseki for the past few years have been the same stuff (reveal different ones rotated)....
