2,000 Bonus Aeroplan Miles will be deposited into the member's account when the total Aeroplan Miles earned by converting points from any combination of eligible partners programs during the promotion period is between 10,000 and 19,999 Aeroplan Miles
Convert 10,000 -> get 2,000 bonus
But, convert 5,000 + another 10,000 -> get only 2,000 bonus. Not 3,000. Correct?

so with SPG...when you convert 20,000 spg, SPG gives you a bonus 5000 AP.
So with this promo:
20,000 SPG -> 20,000 AP
5,000 Bonus SPG--> 5,000 AP
AP Promo for 20,000 Conversion --> 4,000 AP
Not bad....

Like the Aeroplan Star Challenge, it is another Canadian only promo:
Not that it affected me, just felt bad to those that are not based in Canada.
Now, I just need to make sure I get my 150K transfer from all sources.
Please note that while Membership Rewards® points from U.S. American Express Cardmember accounts may be converted into Aeroplan Miles, their conversion is not eligible for the bonus promotion.

That depends on how highly you rate your AP miles vs BA Avios - depends on what you want to redeem for, no?

For example: YVR-FRA-ICN-NRT-BKK-SGN-BKK-HKG-FRA-YVR (All in First except SGN-BKK in Business)
For 120,000 points and $200 in fees. I booked before the points and fee increases of 2011. Today this would cost 175,000 points + $900 per person.
I was looking at BA, with the 50,000 welcome points RBC Visa ( I applied last night) and if I work real hard to spend 30,000 I'll get the BA Companion ticket. Something like above is not possible but I was looking at: YVR-LHR-CMN-LHR-YVR for 180,000 points for 2 people (with the 2 for 1 coupon). The surcharges and fees would be about double Aeroplan's.
So I guess there's a lot better value with AP for me but with BA I'd get to try something new. BA seems to have a lot of availability in First as well which is a plus as Swiss and Lufthansa only release 2-3 weeks before travel now.
I might have to do both... send 1/2 the points to BA and get my wife the BA Visa as well to top us up.

This is probably a silly question, but would like to try anyway... Does anyone know if the Aeroplan conversion promotions are run twice a year?
I'm a bit short for the max conversion bonus and was wondering whether i should make an effort to earn some additional hotel points in order to get the max. Or if i should just wait for the next round of promotion - hopefully at end of the year based on last year's pattern?
Thanx!
