KANDAHAR, The Movie
I have posted this on OMNI, but want to draw it to people's attention here, since I believe this is an extraordinary movie well worth seeing in light of how Afghanistan has now entered centrally into our consciousness. It also has a major Canadian connection.
KANDAHAR is a feature film by Iranian director Mohsen Makhmalbaf, and featuring Ottawa journalist and Afghan refugee herself, Nelofer Pazira. I will say no more here, other than provide the links to the two related Omni threads which describe the movie in greater detail:

KANDAHAR opens this weekend here in Toronto, and likely will be available in Montreal and Vancouver as well either this weekend or next. Those in Edmonton can see it next week as the premiere feature at that city's GLOBAL VISIONS film festival, likely at the Ziedler on Friday night. Hopefully, it will be screening in other cities soon.
