Eupgrade question

So i was waitlisted on my flit from lhr-yyz for an upgrade but I was successful at the gate. In the YYZ MLL I proceeded to upgraded the second segment, YYz to ORD. I believe I will not be charged 6 credits for the second segment since its one PNR and the first segment was more costly. Am I correct because the lounge dragon says otherwise?

If the YYZ-ORD flight takes place within 24h after arriving at YYZ from LHR, you wonīt be charged any additional upgrade credits.

The number of upgrade credits is based on the distance from origin to destination. As both LHR-YYZ and LHR-ORD are <5000miles, youīd be charged 14 credits when upgrading from T+.

That was te case in the old days of SWU's and SSWU's. I thought the connection on an international flight now has to be within 6 hours to be included in your international upgrade, but can't seem to find it on the AC site.

Iīm pretty sure itīs max. 24h for connections to/from intīl flights, but max. 6h for connections within Canada/US (even when itīs part of an intīl itinerary).

E.g. FRA-YYZ(max. 24h)-YVR(max.6h)-YEG

I ended up getting charged 14 for LHR-YYZ and 6 for YYZ-ORD. How long does it take to get refunded or should I be on the phone to Aeroplan right now?

IMHO you shouldn't bother phoning in. I've had great (and speedy) responses using the following form on aircanada.com.

Thanks. I submitted the form but it unfortunately says it may take 10 business days. My return journey is on May 18th and I am now short 3 credits to process the upgrade. Really hope they can sort this quickly!
