I wonder if it ever occurred to them that some travellers, even business travellers, are obligated/required to take the lowest fare, and that by adding one more low cost carrier they will be sending some of their higher fare traffic to the lower fares on the LCC?

The web site has active links but just to the logo and a picture of the airplane with no other information. Very soft launch!

These Tango introductory fares aren't really that low.
YYZ-YUL $198 r/t - this has been the standard discount fare for a while now.
It seems as if AC is pushing all their lower fares over to the Tango product. Yuck.

Actually, it makes sense to me.
You push down the low yield fares onto the lowest cost product. You can then reduce capacity on the mainline product, and maintain levels of service across a lower base, drawing against higher yields.

As I surmised on the other thread, ultimately all Q and L fares will likely migrate to TANGO, V and above will remain on AC. Thus upgrades for everyone flying AC who is Elite or SE! No more complaints. [Well, except for weekend web specials which will remain Ls if they continue on AC.]

WestJet gives you a free snack and beverages.
Canada 3000 gives you a free meal and beverages.
Air Transat gives you a free meal and beverages.
What makes this Tango product so competitive if you have to pay for meals and entertainment?

$99 + $99 = 198 r/t

Yes, FlyerAl has it correct. From the AC release:
The following are the lowest available one-way fares for Tango flights:
Toronto - Vancouver $209
Ottawa - Vancouver $219
Toronto - Calgary $189
Ottawa - Calgary $199
Toronto - Edmonton $189
Ottawa - Edmonton $219
Toronto - Winnipeg $119
Ottawa - Winnipeg $169
Toronto - Ottawa $79
Toronto - Montreal $99
Toronto - Halifax $99
Montreal - Vancouver $199
Halifax - Vancouver $299
Montreal - Calgary $209
Halifax - Calgary $289
Montreal - Edmonton $219
Halifax - Edmonton $299
Mntreal - Winnipeg $179
Halifax - Winnipeg $199
Very weak price offering if you ask me... by the time you pay for seat assignments, food, drinks and a headset, you can probably expect to add about C$70 to a r/t transcon roundtrip.

Actually they are competitive with C3's lowest fares so I think they will do OK if they can fill the planes. Costs for Aeroplan miles may be minimal so they should be able to compete with WestJet and C3000.

I think that I'd need to arrive at the airport at least 3 hours prior to a Tango flight, simply to liqour myself up enough such that I would be able and willing to climb aboard such a flight for the same price as I now pay for mainline services.
