Help - Understanding Fare Codes
Normally it isn't an issue, because the corp picks up the fare, and I never buy a non-refundable ticket.
But I'd like to see my sister in Boston, and I noticed the cheap fares. What do the following fare basis codes mean? Where can I find if these are the upgradable fare basis? Fare Basis Code: LE7FLY Fare Basis Code: LX7FALL (I was searching on expedia) |
The first letter of the fare is your key. Those are L (and therefore not upgradeable) fares. N, L and Q are not upgradeable.
The cheapest fares domestically are usually not upgradeable. Except during seat sales, the cheapest fares transoceanic are usually V fare or higher and are upgradeable. |
Can Elites upgrade international V fares?
|
No, only SuperElites can upgrade from fares other than Y or M on international flights [i.e. beyond NAmerica], albeit they can have one additional person accompany them.

Totally unrelated topic, Hussar, but did you get your Elite kit yet?
If so, how long did it take for them to send it (short staffed)? |
JRAL:
Yes I have received my kit. I qualified on a 7 Sept flight. My status was changed on the AC web site 17 Sept. I recd my kit the following week. |
