All heavy maintenance employees across Canada told to vacate the hangars

Could someone please translate what impact this will/could have on the passenger? on Air Canada?

Well that AC will be sending there planes down to San Salvador to get fixed now...

We will wait and see how the line maintenance guys feel about their fellow brothers getting the royal shaft.

Maintenance workers were given the choice. Heavy maintenance at Aveos or line maintenance at AC.
Will be interesting to see if AC takes back some heavy work. Or will they say f it and send it all to the lowest bidder.

In these times, probably send it to the lowest bidder.

LH Technik & BA maintenance seem to be the only viable survivors to the past, when almost every airline carried out it's own maintenance. And that's only because in truth they operate as a separate entity and still compete for bids.
