Report: EUpgrades issues thread

One thing I have read in many of the eUpgrade discussions thread is "in our view" there is a possibility that the eupgrade system might not be working "properly".

As such I want a thread to document your observations and for AY/ACTT to keep tab of such observations with the eUpgrade system.

This is not a discussion thread, rather to document your observations if you feel the system is not working properly (ie. someone jumped ahead of the waitlist or latter upgraders bypassed the waitlist you are stuck on etc).

To provide this information, please report in the following format:

Date
Flight number
Route
Your status
Brief factual description of your observation

Example:

Date: 1st Jan 2012
Flight: AC123
Route: YYZ-YVR
Status: AC Elite
Description: My non status wife and I (Elite) were both waitlisted and she cleared for an upgrade at the gate before me.

Date: 24 Feb 2012
Flight: AC7
Route: YVR-HKG
Status: AC Elite
Description: Was unable to login to e-upgrade page in the AC website. Confirmed flight reference with travel agent I purchased ticket from. Travel agent ended up submitting request (ultimately denied).

Date: 11 Mar 2012
Flight: AC8
Route: HKG-YVR
Status: AC Elite
Description: Was unable to login to e-upgrade page in the AC website. Confirmed flight reference with travel agent I purchased ticket from. Travel agent attempted to submit request but proved unable to do so. Could not access AC staff upon arrival in HKG to submit request in person w/o leaving & re-entering secured area.

Date:Several dates before 29 Feb 2012
Flight/Route:Several flights YVR to LHR, YYZ to FRA / MUC
Status:AC-E
Description:Cancelled several EUGs (flight rebooking on my part, flight delays and subsequent rebookings on ACs part, waitlisted but eventually not upgraded) before the beginning of the new "AC year" and when credited back, the EUGs were scattered all over the place, including slots expiring in 2012, although some credits had already been taken from the 2013 harvest. In other words, the system was using up new credits even though it should first finish the old credits expiring in 2012. I had to email [email protected] on three occasions to have this fixed -- received prompt response, within 48h or so, and they indeed fixed the problem each time. Still annoying that I had to check my EUG account frequently, and now it is a whole mess of "cancelled" and "credited" credits. I am curious what will happen if an UG is canceled now, after 29 Feb, for an UG requested BEFORE 29 Feb -- will it be credited back to the expired slots? Well, I am not curious enough to actually try it ;)

Date:Mar 19, 2012
Flight/Route:AC 847 MUC-YYZ
Status:AC-SE
Description:J5 R0 at T-7 when I requested an update at exactly T-7 days and was waitlisted. Still showing J5 R0 at T-24 when I checked in. Was # 7 on check-in list. Enquired at the check-in desk and was told that upgrade hadn't cleared, but chances looked good. Another enquiry at gate about one hour before flight, after discovering that a colleague, also SE, who was 10th on check-list, had been cleared. Was told that mine had still not cleared, but there were still 2 slots open and I was 2nd on list. At boarding, was told that I had not been upgraded.

were you and your colleague both on the same fare?

and are there two lists? a check-in list (by time) and the upgrade list (which is sorted by some proprietary formula)

Just checked my e-upgrade account this am after reading this and noticed that my remaining 2011 credits were still showing up on my total credits available for 2012 ???

They were marked as expired above (in red) but still on my total eUpgrade credits available. I assume this must be a glitch that others are seeing ?

not a glitch, working as functioned, ACTT had noted why they're still visible

Flight/Route:AC33 YYZ-YVR
Status:AC-SE
Description:
Confirmed upgrade at T-7d. Online check in at T-24hr with printed boarding pass for Exec class. Upon boarding, GA notes there is an error with my boarding pass. Had to wait til everyone has boarded until the GA issues a new boarding pass with a different seat assignment.

Behind the scene, my checked luggage was offloaded from the flight and didn't arrive until late the following day. According to AC concierge, someone from "head office" decided to remove me from the flight with no reason given.

Remove you from the flight? Man, that sucks - and especially to a SE!! :td:
