Missing Segment Needed for E Status

Greetings,

I returned to YEG from Melbourne, Australia on November 26 via Sydney, LAX and SFO on UA metal. The Sydney-LAX leg would have put me at E status. However, only the Melbourne to Sydney leg was credited (a measly 467 miles instead of the other 9,000). I should have looked at my other boarding passes closer as my aeroplan number was only on the first leg. I called Aeroplan 1 week later at which time the agent submitted the request for the credit.

Of course they say it could take 4-6 weeks to get the credit. When I flew to Australia 3 months earlier, the same issue happened and my credits were posted within 2 days after my call. My questions are ...

1) Does it make any difference calling them back to ensure that there wasn't any issue in them making the request?
2) How long should I wait to give them a call back?
3) If they don't post them until January (6 weeks later), will I still get the credit for 2011 and E status?

I just don't want to get into a situation where they had a problem posting them, didn't tell me and I find out I could have addressed the issue early enough to ensure I get my E status for 2012.

Thanks for your help!

When your miles do finally post they will be posted with the date of your flight and you will receive your 2012 status. If your flight was with UA I would fill out the online mileage request on aeroplan.com.

+1 never hurts to re-enter the request online. At worst, you get only one credit for this flight (the correct amount). ;)

Thanks for the thoughts. I went online today to try to submit my request and received the error message that the request is already being processed. So I guess I will just be patient ...

I'm in the same boat as the OP; flew LH YYC-FRA-TXL and only the FRA-TXL segement posted to my account.

The round trip would have put me comfortably into E for 2012.

I submitted the missing segment request online.

I know the resolution time is "up to six weeks"; any experience as to how quickly this happens in practice, especially towards the end of the reward year?

Best regards,

TB-ES

It's been three weeks for me and still no miles. I did call. They said they were in the system as a request but to call back in a week if I do not see the miles. The agent said in his experience that it could be 20 days or so. He assured me that I would not miss E status for 2012 even if the posted into January. I sure hope that's the case. The anxiety is killing me!

Any update on your TB-ES?

My mom flew paid J YYZ-SYD and forgot to put in her AP #. After filling out the online request, it took about 10 days for the miles to post.

Posted some time between last night and this morning, so ~11/12 days (requested credit while still overseas). Now to wait for the next sweep.

Hope you hear back soon.

Nothing like waiting to the very last day. I got all my credits posted this morning so I definitely made Elite for 2011! Exacly 4 weeks from applying. So just like you, I'm patiently waiting for the next sweep.

My wife and child were on same flights and all posted today. She made Prestige and had my 5 year old been 18, he'd be Prestige too. Took me 40 years to get there and he did it before he could read - what a different world we live in these days.

I don't think there's an age requirement for status.

Not for status - just for unaccopmanied lounge access. ;-)

Correct. There is one SE who posts here regularly who I think is 15. There have also been stories of people with infants who achieve status.

If I had a kid I would take them on MR and use their EVIPs.
After all, $2000 or so for 100k+ miles and 8 EVIP Is a good deal.

Believe this is a different situation since the OP is crediting with a partner and not AC. Had to do his the other way (MP credit for a Jazz flight), and I'm sure the process is the same - AP needs to submit to UA to verify, and they get 4 weeks to respond. In my case, AC didn't respond to the first one and so it took 6 weeks and 2 requests.
