Avoid LHR??

Anyone have any advice?

I am currently in warm Mumbai...flying home in J on Nov 30th..
Scheduled to FLy JET Airways (9W) from BOM-LHR then connect to AC from LHR-YYZ.

There is a strike by immigration officers in LHR and both AC and JET have advisories on their websites.

I cant change my date.

I contacted my travel agent...I believe I have a United issued ticket.

If I fly JEt all the way home via BRU my only concern is that I am about 2000k short of requalifying for SE. WIll I still get aeroplan points for my original routing even if it was not an AC issued ticket?

thanks...

Do whatever it takes to get home. There will be massive cancellations going into LHR.

See this article for details.

You may not at this late date have many options. Heresy but worry about points later.

a) How many threads need to be started today for the possible job action by UK immigration officers?

b) How will routing via BRU get you less miles? AFAIK the Jet Airways codeshares no longer earn status miles for AC. Wouldn't any BRU-Canada flights earn more miles than a LHR-Canada flight?

EDIT: Never mind about b) I misread about flying Jet all the way to Canada. Could you not transfer to the AC flight at BRU? If you make a voluntary change days prior to your departure, your chance at getting AC status miles is probably 0.

Because LHR-YYZ is on AC
BRU-YYZ is on 9W so no miles

That's the fourth, IIRC. Too many IMHO.

AC does fly BRU-(YUL)-YYZ though.

don't panic!

as you are purely transiting you shouldn't need to go through UK border control.

:D

at the moment all the airlines are still planning a full service.

I don't think the disruption will be as bad as is suggested.

There's plenty of contingency.

- more than 60% of managers did not support this strike action

- each manager who comes into work will be paid a significant bonus

- extra qualified staff have been drafted in from global consulates and the Foreign Office

- the e-gates will still be functioning normally

- airlines have not been taking bookings into LHR for Wednesday since the weekend, so numbers will be naturally reduced

- it's a midweek outside school holidays; hardly a heavy travel day

Will the UK government be refunding its exorbitant entry fee?

Agree, too many threads on this subject already, Mods should have consolidated them by now instead of worrying about crabs on LH flights...

I think that's a question for a separate thread.

:D

For those who see fit to post messaging such as:

"Mods should have consolidated them by now instead of worrying about crabs on LH flights..."

...perhaps it should serve as a reminder of the "Report Bad Post" function, and also a reminder that FT Moderators are volunteers.

We have personal and professional lives, and are not able to spend any more time going through pages of posts than we do already.

The crab landing post was RBPed. Perhaps in future, rather than snide comments on-thread, you might alert us to anything that is awry.

Thank you,

Simon
