AA/OW elite comp

Just wondering if any Es or SEs actually got AA to comp them top-tier status?

The highest status AA will comp is Platinum, and never Executive Platinum. CO is probably the only airline to give away their top-tier status.

I am Elite and I was given Platinum. It is my understanding that AA never gives Exec Platinum unless you earn it.

As far as I know, AA never comps Executive Platinum status - and for good reason. Benefits are about the best that's out there. Same goes for US Airways' Chairman Preferred, and United Airlines 1K status.

I just became Elite and I wonder which airlines frequent flyer program that could consider to comp me? Will AA do it? CO? What about other US based airlines? DO you think any European airline will comp? I have made three NA trips this year with one more to go and several trips within Europe.

I would not expect any European or Asian carriers would comp to elite unless you also provided evidence of future, high yield travel with them. [BA has a program of comp'g elite status, but only for NAmericans who take at least one transAt with them.] And if these were STAR partners, they'd reject you based on your AC status [and a non-poaching policy].

For other US carriers, you must send a copy of your most recent elite status statement with a request for equivilent satus [save for very top tier which won't be comp'd] in their program. Upon reviewing this statement, they will make their decision to grant or not grant such status. If someone is not based in Canada, as kempnis, it is unlikely that AA, NW or CO would extend a comp based on an Aeroplan statement that likely shows an account balance of just 41K, and at that, having just achieve Elite for the first time. But you can always try if you live in a city that AA, NW or CO fly into.

Does anyone know if the AA "Elite Canada Offer" will continue for the remainder of this year or next year?

Shareholder Aug 11, 2001 8:42 am

I think that offer expired this or last month. There may be a new tie-in with the RB Visa card, but I would think AA has roped in as many ex-CP types as it could, with the help of CX which was the main instigator of the promo. Given you ability to get Gold or Platinum status with the two Challenges, it doesn't seem AA would extend the offer. Though with tough economic times, a downturn in high yield passengers, and a heating up of transborder comeptition, anything is possible. Still, I suspect renewals will be based on performance: fly AA or lose your elite.
