Online checking - Code share flight

I am flying on Air Canada but with a Luftansa ticket. (Air Canada metal).
Who should I check-in with? When I try Air Canada, it cannot find my booking number as it's from Lufthansa. When I attempt to do it at Lufthansa's site, it returns a message that it is not possible with this airline.. Please refer to the airline directly. My flight is not for another 2 days, so still a bit early for check-in, but I don't think the error messages matter.

What's the deal?

You need to check in with the operator, in this case AC.

If you don't have the booking reference, you supposedly can use either your aeroplan number or credit card number.

OLCI

Call LH and have them give you the AC booking code.
Code-shares are all about "seamless service"....NOT!!!

Well, I called and they couldn't give me my booking number. They don't have it, they claim. They said that I cannot checkin online.
I can only check-in at the counter (not even use the Kiosks).

Oh well.

You sure neither Aeroplan number or credit card number work?

You can ask AC. Give them your name, itin and ticket# if they ask.

Stranger, I tried that. Entering my credit card number asked me for my AP number. Entering my Aeroplan number asked me for my booking number.

Ucc, you solved it! I called Air Canada, provided my ticket number and within 2 minutes, the nice lady gave me my AC booking number. I verified on AC and it is valid. Another 2 hrs before check-in.

Thanks everyone for their suggestions.

Michel
