Bumping question
On the 1st of August I am flying the strange way LHR-YVR-YYC to get to my final destination in Calgary. Why? Since the direct flight with AC didnt have any seats available at the time I made my booking. If the flight to Vancouver would be needing volunteers and if I volunteer would AC consider to put me on one of the direct flights which would arrive in Calgary a few hours before my booked option?

Yes, so long as you do not make it obvious that you are benefiting form the deal they should still give you the vouchers. I have bumped and arrived at final destination at the exact same time as originally scheduled and been given vouchers and an upgrade to Business Class. Not sure re: upgrade on trans-Atlantic but it's possible.

Sometimes, if they have seats available, the check-in agent will offer to put you on the direct flight even if your flights aren't oversold.

If this flight will be oversold and AC needs volunteers how much could I expect in travel vouchers for a transatlantic flight? SAS would give me 800$ for a transatlantic flight. Will AC give more or less?

With flights as lightly booked into YEG as they are this summer, you're most unlikely to find yourself in that situation on services to western Canada. [You may have just hit a particular day inot YYC.] AC would most likely just accommodate any overflow of the LHR-YVR flight on ones to YEG or even via YYZ and YUL, then onto local shuttle of transcons. There may not be any compensation offered -- other than a phone call -- since the delayed arrival would be minimal.

Stick with going through YVR unless you can get on an Airbus plane. The YYC-LHR runs use mostly (exclusively?) CP 767s that have NO PERSONAL VIDEO.
While others find the seats comfortable, I find the old CP seats very UNCOMFORTABLE. The foot rest does not seem to come up as high. While there is more personal space (seat pitch), I prefer the Airbus series or AC 767s (non 3000 series flight numbers). I had a choice of only CP 767s on my return flight from LHR yesterday. Service and food was good, but video sucks, even the projection equipment is fuzzy and dull. If you don't care about entertainment, then you will be ok on 3000 series flights |
BB: Thanks for the info on CP 763's. I go to PEK mid August and was wondering what to expect from this type.
