eUpgrades to Share...availability confirmation before naming a nominee
 

I am wondering if it is possible to know for sure if an upgrade will be available using credits before naming an eUpgrade nominee. I would like to upgrade a family member on a T+ flight within Canada in August. I can see the booking/itinerary when I enter the reference code and name on the eUpgrade site but it does not show how many credits will be required. It just says that the booking is not for myself or a nominee. I am only prestige so I don't want to waste my one nominee selection if her flight will not be upgradable anyway and she probably won't have any other flights the rest of the year. Is it possible that within the 2 day window the site will show whether eUpgrades are available for the itinerary, available on waitlist, or not available at all?

Excellent question, which I just went through myself earlier today. And yes, confirmed my sister's upgrade.

To check availability, if you have no access to these specific tools, just go to aircanada.com, do a mock reservation and see if there is upgrade space available.

It will if she is your nominee. Other then that, sign up here (its free) and search for your flight, in buisness cabin. You will see 4 colums, first, buisness, economy other. Buisness would be the R (or upgradable seats) and other the rest of biz class. If R is 1 or higher, then yes she can be confirmed.
