Another pricing puzzle
 

This one leaves me quite perplexed:
YYZ-FRA on LH--J class--o/w ai--booking at Lutfthansa website: 4008.87
YYZ-FRA on LH (AC codeshare) o/w ai--booking at AC website: 5624.16
So AC wants to charge me an extra 1616 to put me on the SAME aircraft as LH and will collect the fuel surcharge that LH does not charge!! Tell me this is not only greed!!

is it just coincidence that 4000 euro = 5600 CAD?

AC sets their own pricing on their codeshare flights. If they can get an extra $1600, so be it. Some call it greed, others might call it maximizing profitability.

Are the rules of the ticket the same? ie: Is the AC fare a fully refundable J fare, but the LH one is a restricted ticket?

BTW - LH does charge a fuel surcharge, they just price all inclusive. It's $480 for a YYZ-FRA RT.

The $1616 is not going into AC's pocket, because there is no fare difference. The fare on Lufthansa for a o/w ai J ticket is € 4008.87.

Ok. It's not only greed.

AC is running YOW-FRA fares for august and sept at $1349 each way in J. Seems like a pretty good deal.

Isn't it all a moot point since AC/LH share Canada/Germany revenues?

speaking of this topic....i priced FRA-VCE-ZRH for next year on LH and LX...it was $381 for 2 pax....today its almost $500..... suddenly there is $77 fuel surcharge per person.

and there's no mileage.....

a lil OT, how come LH T class is not listed on Aeroplan?
