What software are you using?

I am having trouble with itn and getting it to price MHD's. It keeps coming back with, we are unable to confirm / price your routing - please go back and check it again. I can use travelocity, but only for 4 or 5 segments, then the software can't handle it. PTO is a joke, the prices it brings back are at least $1K higher than anywhere else.

What are you using to do the MHD's??? I see prices of 1400, 1600 etc., but have never gotten one below 1800. My base is YHZ.

Any suggestions would be helpful.

PTO seems to be working for me. I'm getting low prices.

BlondeBomber May 14, 2001 8:44 am

I thought 1800 was about the cheapest you could do an MHD from YHZ? (in J class anyway)

BlondeBomber May 14, 2001 8:56 am

Yes $1790 is cheapest to either MEX or MTY from YHZ.

Notice that Expedia is not posting routing rules for many MX fares other than MPM-western hemisphere (guess I can go via HNL http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif). Wonder what's up. We need access to a travel agent's computer to get the routing rules now! http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/frown.gif

I spent a long time initially getting PTO to price out reasonably, but I followed a lot of BB's comments and suggestions and eventually it worked. One thing I did find at first is that I wasn't using the correct routing rules and so the prices were way up there. Now what I do is to find the simplest routing that gives me a cheap fare and then play with it segment by segment to see what happens.

What site does PTO stand for?

Academic May 14, 2001 2:46 pm

It stands for Personal Ticket Office, AC's proprietary booking system. You can access it through http://www.aircanada.ca/pto/home.html

When you go there it will tell you that you must have been contacted by AC in order to use it. Ignore that and register then download. I didn't have any problem as an Elite. You will need to contact PTO to have your account activated, but that is straightforward. It's not perfect, but I prefer it to ITN except where I need to see what booking classes are available.

You register here after you download the software. http://www.aircanada.ca/pto/regis.html
and read this: http://www.aircanada.ca/pto/guide.html#registration

Then you launch the program and use your Aeroplan number as ID. Your default password upon connecting for the first time is 'aircanada'. You will be required to change this password and replace it with your own password.

Voila... simple registration. No invitation or human contact required.

MoreMiles: How do you download before you register?

Andrew Yiu May 14, 2001 11:55 pm

It's actually the other way around, you register at the website taht Moremiles provided, then that will take you to the download screen.

However, you MUST call PTO at 1-877-423-2288 to ask them to add you Aeroplan number to the database before you could use it otherwise it'll just keep telling you "invalid account number". Exceptions are when they send you the CD then that means you are already in the database.

That was my point, Empress http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif
