Linking Itineraries

I'm traveling with a friend (I'm Elite and my friend isn't) and we booked 2 separate itineraries for the same flights. Is there a way to link the itineraries so that I can upgrade us at the same time? I don't want to upgrade if I can't upgrade my friend as well. Thanks.

Just call up AC and ask them to link your two PNR's.... Problem will be that if you are trying to upgrade and only one seat is available, the single seat will probably pass to the next upgrade request. You maybe better off keeping them separate and upgrading your friend first and then taking your chances at the gate.

Nope. A linked itinerary will not allow an upgrade. Needs to start on the same PNR. Only real option for upgrade would be to name your friend on your eUpgrade list.

Linked files are a courtesy to tell the airline you are traveling together and help you find the other passenger details from one locator; they don't create a single file.

Had this yesterday in YWG where I wasn't able to upgrade a colleague travelling with me until I had him added to my list. Was told the same thing by the ckin agent and concierge that unless they are on the same PNR, it is not possible.

I was surprised neither the agent or concierge bothered to assist any further form there and basically told me I was out of luck. A quick call to the SE desk and I was back in the lounge getting the upgrade for my colleague. I found the new concierge in YWG (some old guy) to be rather useless compared to the great service I have previously received in YWG.
