Are flighstats availability numbers...
 
... always accurate? Looking au AC091 on May 12. Was J0 2 days ago, and today J2. Does not look too good for an upgrade, even with a M fare...

Sorry for these simple questions? Getting acquainted with all of this!

I don't know how often FlightStats availability numbers are refreshed, but I don't think it's real-time. ExpertFlyer and KVS will probably provide more real-time accurate availability

KVS updates as soon as a change is made, either for an upgrade or for a seat assignment.

That is correct, ExpertFlyer.com directly accesses multiple airline reservation systems in real-time without any caching of information.

KVS just grabs Flightstats data under Availability/FS. It's the same as if you were to log in yourself (just saves the step).

That is correct -- the KVS Tool is specifically designed to retrieve real-time information and does not cache any data.

... so if I get this right, there is only 2 seats available (according to fkightstats) but 5 are not assigned... or is it 5 available?

On a similar vein - how accurate are the availability stats on the ANA online tool? On ANA, I found availability for 2 J seats on LH 110 on Dec 2 (FRA-MUC), but when I tried to book it through the AE call centre, the agent said there weren't any J seats available for redemption. I'd be ok with manually checking ANA daily to see if J availability opens up, but since it seems to be inaccurate, I wonder if I should sign up for KVS if it will actually provide a true snapshot. Could someone confirm that KVS is showing LH110 on 12/2 with no J award availability?

Thanks for the quick reply, KVS. I just called Aeroplan and this agent was able to find the J tickets for me! So annoying that reward bookings depend so heavily on the agent you get on the phone...
