OLCI - just first segment

Can I do an online check-in for just the first segment of my flight?

I have a 12 hour layover in YUL and want to pick up my boarding pass there for the second leg.

Just check in for both, then in YUL ask them to reprint your boarding pass.

That's what I would do. You never know when a low sequence number might come in handy.
