eupgrade query

I was looking to do an eupgrade today for YQR-YUL for myself and my wife--both of us are E and both are on the same booking. It looks like the only way for my wife to upgrade is as my travel companion, thus using my credits. If I do that, though, that puts me under the threshold for a roundtrip TATL for my remaining credits and I'd like to keep that option open.

Does anyone know if there is a way that she can use her credits to upgrade?

I find it quite odd that two Elites on one booking can only use the one person's credits. It also messes up the ease of using the credits.

Has she tried logging into her eupgrade account and enter the booking ref to upgrade herself?

Alternatively, calling the elite line might work.

I'll try both those suggestions if needed, thanks. Surprising, though, that one can't just separate out the two passengers. The companion can be dropped from the upgrade but they can't be linked to their own credits.

It turns out that the companion on a booking can log herself onto AC.com, then choose select individual booking, find the booking and then proceed to upgrade. The credit card number used to book the flight is needed to validate the upgrade request.

In my case, we had to step out a bit before the upgrade period opened and someone else snagged one of the R spots leaving only one remaining. It is now J2/R1 according to EF so I think we'll have to pass now. Other than the inconvenience of having to do two transactions to complete an upgrade request, I seem to recall that under the old system you could have the agent waitlist two or more people on the same booking in situation like this. If that second R spot opened up, then the upgrade could complete.

So far, I'd say that the system is not overly user friendly except where there is only one traveller involved.

you can also request to create two separate pnr's which will fix that issue as well
