This topic has been discussed ad naseum in the past. Get over it...you can't have both Prestige and Elite benefits combined. Enjoy your Elite status and direct your venom at useful things. |

The issue is more what will happen with e-certs. When I made Prestige one year I ended up with a whole bunch of SWUs, then I went to Elite in the same year and got additional SSWUS and NAUs - the previous SWUs were not invalidated. Now with e-certs if someone changes status from P to E during the year they may (or may not?) adjust the e-certs to reflect the new status, instead of having the previous additive rule.

People moving up in status during the year will not lose previously earned e-credits. |

AY answered this question.

Note that the AP website never stopped working for him either. Something's going on here.

What I'm wondering about is if you get early Elite or SE what are the expiry times of those ecerts. Do they last a year from when you get them or do they expire Feb 28/29? |

I'm talking about people who actually move up in status P->E, E->SE, during 2011 via the usual "Early Status" recognition system. These people will not have their old eCredits removed (just like they never had their old certs taken away). |

I'm curious how you got this. I'm assuming you didn't make early SE for 2011 (my condolences if you have!). Does that mean you made your Elite choices prior to Dec 31 and then crossed the 100k threshold afterwards in 2010?

i qualified for elite very early in 2010, at the six month mark i start having my AE nubmer removed at the gate just prior to boarding (after u/g if any). then when december comes along, the system sees that i qualify for Elite for 2011 and asks me kindly to select my E benefits for 2011. when that goes through, i submit a whole heck load of milage requests for the all those flights not credited, and that puts me way over the SE threshold, then the system sees that I now qualify for SE in 2011 and asks to select again. so for my E benefits i selected all eCredits and for SE i select %100 and all eCredits for a total of 95 eCredits for 2011 (excluding my FP eCredits and threshold bonus', which will take me somewhere to 257 eCredits for 2011)

I wasnt complaining... just saddened... those points looked so nice in my account.... :(

Your scheme makes sense to me (although not sure if I'd be advertising it myself) but exactly how do you "start having your AE number removed"? Do you book flights without inputting it, or simply apply a bit of white-out?

Suggestion for Andrew Yiu and Aeroplan
The process described by NAJetset seems more like a scam than a scheme - one that Air Canada should look into given the info provided such as the YYJ location.
