My condolences Emma65, sad news indeed.

I regret I had to make a bereavement flight from YYZ to YVR two years ago. Quite honestly, the fare reduction wasn't anything to write home about. But I greatly appreciated the over-and-above efforts of AC's booking staff to get me and my wife on what showed as sold-out flights both to and from, and during the height of the holiday travel season no less. They were not the best seats on the plane, but they got us where we had to be, and when we needed to be there.

Thank you all for your condolences. The travel insurance company are being very helpful and have both called and emailed. They have a copy of my e-ticket and will be rescheduling my return for jan 8 or 9. I figured it best to let them deal with it. I will take up on advice of truing to get them to pay part of a new ticket for me here. However, right now that is the least of my concerns.

Forensics have gone through part of the smoldering remains of the building and so far have found no trace of my parents. It is said it could take weeks if they find anything at all. The house burned undisturbed for more than 12 hours.

I just saw this thread now. How terrible!! My deepest condolences to you and your loved ones Emma.

If it helps, you can fly SAS from EWR to CPH or ARN. I'm not sure what their bereavement policy is though.
