Aeroplan rewards
Good morning!
I just wanted to post a topic about the rewards. There are 2 aspects of the Aeroplan program that I dislike.
(1) According to a res agent, effective Jan 1, 2001, there will not be temporary holds of 14 days for Aeroplan reservations. The last time I called, I simply wanted to verify if seats are available. There was only 1 seat left for the dates I chose. Since I could not make a decision right on the spot whether to ticket or not, I simply I said I would call back. Shocking how I can't hold the seat aside for a couple of days.
==> Trimming benefits as a result of the merger!
(2) This has always been so, but why are fates not changeble on partner awards after issuance of ticket? Members may change dates for A/C flights, but not will other carriers.
==>Any comments about that?
To end this on a good note, I find Aeroplan to have more award seats available than AAdvantage, Worldperks, Mileage +, OnePass...
For example, to Europe or to Asia, Worldperks may have no seat for a full one month period!
Anyone has any similar experiences?

My friend just booked two Worldperks award tickets to Denver a couple of days ago. He is leaving on the night of 16 March, just when spring break starts down here. I was really surprised that he got them so late, considering the fact that Denver is such a popular ski destination - maybe he was just lucky.

The "no changes" on partner-carrier tickets is largely due to the fact that all seats are obtained on-request. This may be alleviated when * carriers' agents start to get real time access to each other's avaialbility.
This is mandated by the operating carriers, and it works both ways--UA MP members can't make changes to an AC reward ticket, either.
