Aeroplan Website is Killing me.

Every time I try and confirm my flight I get a down for maintenance error come up.

Then my flights seem to be on hold for who knows how long.

This is the first time I've tried to book using the Aeroplan miles and so far the experience is extremely frustrating.

Are these website errors a common thing or am I simply having bad timing? (This has happened to me for the past 2 days)

I think AE is "upgrading" their system.

... and furthermore ...

Site still down... seems to be more often lately than usual...

Sorry - slightly OT - are others bothered by the web re-design? I find it means I cannot [as easily] download the transactions into my tracking spreadsheet... ummm... maybe no-one else does this...?

That was the one that had been working for me, but right now I can't make any of work (www, www1. nor www2). Whatever I try, IE tells me to try one of the others.

Site is back up now. That's a pretty long outage though.

I tried the regular addresses which did not work and then the link thru the AC website and got:

"Oops! Internet Explorer could not find www.aeroplan.com"

But Google suggested a search for "aeroplan language" and it worked - got in thru "http://www2.aeroplan.com/language.do?lang=E"

Amazing

Yesterday when I finally found a chance to speak a supervisor at SuperElite desk, who told me that there has been some serious internal IT problems.

My case was simple: for the last few days, I looked at the Aeroplan website, and wanted to redeem a business class seat from YYC to PEK departing De 12 and returning on Jan 7. Although AC metal seats were sold out, the Aeroplan website showed many options and itineraries that I could connect YVR via Air China 992 to PEK.

However, I could not make the booking from the website, which always indicated that I need to call Aeroplan desk to complete the itinerary and booking. When I called, the SE desk agent looked at her system and told me that absolutely no seat was available for all the dates surrounding my preferred departure and returning dates. After listening to my explanation about the website choices, she just passed the phone to the Aeroplan website support, and then from this point on, I was kicked back and forth between the Aeroplan website support and the SE desk. Once a website support guy was so adamant that the website choices were right that he insisted me speaking to SE desk to demand the flights. He was of course able to generate my itinerary.

Eventually after another day, I got through the SE and spoke to a supervisor, who again was able to produce my itinerary with his office web browser, yet he admitted that something wrong here and all he could do was to offer an apoogy.

Because the booking system was so complicated that they actually could not turn off certain choices and routes and airlines. So even they know there are problems, there are little they can do at this moment.

Eventually the lesson here now is that: if you want anything, call SE desk.

Did you try the regular AC website or your local Airport Website as well?
