What happened to AC4/2004 Nov.8/9

Hi All,

My friend was on Nov.8 AC 4 NRT-YVR, however it was cancelled due to a problem with the engine. He was rebooked onto AC2004 Nov.9. AC2004 was scheduled to depart @ 1400 Tokyo time. and postponed till 1500 a few hours ago. And now it is delayed till 1700. What is going on there?

He must be in Vancouver by tomorrow. What action can he take?

does YVR have any noise control? 4:30am seems a lil early to land.... but just a pure guess

have u contemplated booking ur friend on AC1 and backtrack to YVR. At least AC1 is on time.

interestingly enough I'm at NRT right now on that flight. Bum starter managed to get in changed but ran into the strict departure - nothing after 23:00 we pushed from the gate prior to but were 1 min late taking to the active runway. Back to the gate, hotels, meals, 14:00 push today. Computer issues, looks like we won't go at the announced 17:00 with the slow hand processing of pax I'm thinking 18:00 or later..... now a gate change....
IROP handled well by AC, kudos to them....then again as a US flyer perhaps my expectations are so damn low.
The software glitch has really screwed things up, other than that well done by AC for the IROP.

OK. Although for flyers like me, I would've done some exotic routes given this opportunity. However, my friend does not want to go through US, or, if that matters, backtrack from YYZ. I did call AC Res, and ask for options. They say I can go on AC6232(NH6) and then AC555. The waiting time in LAX is 5 hrs though. I didn't push for SFO or SEA on NH or UA since my friend does not want to go through UA anyways. We are going to keep AC2004 and see what happens. The last hope if AC2004 is delayed again will be SQ12 to LAX. We'll see...

NoMS, my friend is in ANA lounge right now... maybe you can find him, haha. His English communication is limited though.

It looks like they've processed all the pax and we are sitting at a ground gate - perhaps to be bussed to a remote stand?

I saw the crew check in very early, my fear is them timing out or us not getting a departure slot.
Crap happens and my original intent on signing on today was to give kudos to AC for a IROP well handled.

Just read through the irop... He was from Taipei on JL, does that mean he can go with JL18 to Vancouver if AC2004 delays again? Also, does he get any AC miles if he goes with JL18?

1 hrs till departure. Show's on.

yea, 77W/L is far more reliable than 763. I don't know, there's just something to me about the 767 series, don't like them at all.

Let's hope the crew does not time out...

The stuff that "Really Matters" is more reliable on 77s. But IFE is the opposite - fails much more often (and fatally) than on the 76/33 fleets IMHO.

Really? Any basis in reality for such a statement? Source, data?

(My personal experience does not point to any significant difference.)
