Jazz Air says it plans to convert into corporation named Chorus Aviation

HALIFAX - Jazz Air Income Fund (TSX:JAZ.UN) plans to change its name to Chorus Aviation Inc. when it converts to a dividend-paying corporation, a move being made in response to changes to the new tax rates for income trusts next year.

... and maintain the payout at $0.60 annually!

I guess they want to sing a new tune or something. Wonder if it will be music to stakeholders' ears.

Some analysts are skeptical that Chorus will be able to sustain such a quaterly dividend.

Chorus, or a tired refrain?

Are you preaching to the choir? :D

It did seem an odd moniker to pick but what happens on Bay Street doesn't always make sense.

There's probably a ritardando in there, hoping that it immediately leads to a D.C. al Fine.

Tangoer Oct 9, 2010 1:13 pm

Sounds too much alike to Corus Media.

kylejaymes Oct 9, 2010 3:32 pm

Interesting change, but why?

I can hear it now: "Thank you for flying Air Canada Chorus."

Hahaha.

airbus320 Oct 9, 2010 3:35 pm

You have to look at a name from all angles

If they had done a focus group on the name chorus, perhaps someone would have made the observation that female flight attendants might inherit the moniker "chorus girls".

Not good.......:(

Perhaps someone on Bay Street plays guitar.

Toule911 Oct 10, 2010 11:48 am

Everything will really change for Chorus? seriously that sucks.... Jazz was ok....

HerpaYvr Oct 10, 2010 8:56 pm

.....I will miss the name Jazz, but call it what you want, I just want my quarterly dividend and capital appreciation. It’s about making money, not looking pretty, unless that’s how you make your money and that is a whole different thread ;)

So instead of an airline we will be flying a Chorus Line being served by Chorus Girls / Guys. And for the provinces that pay the harmonized tax will their credit card statements show "Chorus in Harmony"? hahaha

Does it have anyting to do with the site chorusaviation dot com?

Now - Virgin - has pretty girls on the front of their aircraft. I suggest Chorus Aviation has dancing girl legs on the tails of their airplanes - each one slightly different. hahaha

If Jazz is changing its name, and AC is using another tier 2 carrier for certain routes, should AC consider changing the name from "Air Canada Jazz" to something like "Air Canada Regional" to avoid future confusion?
