Changes to reservation for SE
Generally as an SE if you make a change, are you still charged the change fee ?
|
For revenue bookings, still subject to the terms and conditions for the fare that you're booked in... no exceptions for SE.
|
I have found, though, that in practice the check-in staff tend to waive the charges for ticket changes for SE members, IF they know you by sight at the airport.

Max....
You must have better luck than I...have never experienced that! Dorian |
I've had the same experience as Max. Until recently. They've really tightened up on this. When I make a change by phone they now ask for credit card info to charge the fee to.
|
About time. Cdn got very strict about collecting such charges in its last few years. I guess AC is beginning to realize it is losing millions a year by waving such charges. Aterall, you want flexibility, you pay the price. Some day we shareholders may actual see something called a dividend. Remember, neither AC or CP had made a full-year profit for more than 10-years. Keep those change fees coming, I say!

http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif . . . but remember you can standby for later or earlier same day flights on most fares at no extra cost!

Ah, BB - yes, think that's the way to go...
|
I just had to turn a YVR-YYZ-YVR into a YVR-YYZ-NYC-YVR. Not only had to pay the change fee, also had to upgrade the first sector from an L to an H.
Notwithstanding getting hit for a higher sector fare on the first leg--which was completely unchanged from my L booking--they would not budge on also charging me the change fee. Ah well. That's what I get for not booking it properly in the first place. Better than paying $1200 for a same day YYZ-NYC-YYZ. |
Can you say "hat?"
I knew you could. |
This is something that was more common on CP. Apparantly AC is really serious now about charging the fee. They see it as a huge amount of revenue, and although it is a pain to pay $107 I can see where they're coming from. I have had CP waive change fee many times, but only once that I can remember on AC.
The one situation where I might hope for lenience is if you have first flight in the morning, and want to leave on the last flight the night before. Beacuse it is not the same calandar day, change fee applies (even to standby). I had AC agree to waive this once, but only after whizzing around YVR and bouncing between CP check-in, CP ticketing, AC check-in, AC customer service. Eventually an ACer just said what the hay and put me on standby with no change fee. I was AC Élite at the time. |
