Hmmphhh. AC 791/792 LAX 767 swapped down!

Was sched' to fly on the 763 flight out of LAX today. I'm about two minutes from SNA, but figured a car ride over would be worth it have the pods (and it gets in 1/2 hr earlier than SNA-YYZ)

But got up this morning and saw it was swapped down to a 321. Light loads? Does this type of downgrade happen often?

I'm back on the SNA flight. On check in, I was the ONLY person in business class.

Downgauged due to unplanned maintenance on 763.

A day-of downgauge like this wouldn't happen due to light loads as there are crewing implications - the flight crew that was scheduled to fly the 763 can't fly the 321, so new pilots had to be drafted.

FYI, in the past 90 days AC791/792 has only been downgauged 4 times to a 321, so it is fairly reliably operated as a 763.

Must have been because I was on it then. Shades of 762...!

Oh well, maybe I can do some exercise in J in the SNA flight if it stays empty...

Ken Hammer are you flying from LAX today?

As a general rule if Ken is on the 767 flight its going to be swapped.

This is absolutely too funny if not overly um, I don't even know if the word is pathetic.

Just told by the gate agent that I'm still the only person in J.

And because I switched back to this flight after changing from LAX, it has not been catered with food -- that's what she told me (i.e. ML*2 or whatever)

So not only will I be the only person in J, I will have no meal!

Could they not have possibly anticipated that there might be a few upgrades of other people on the flight. Does OPS not do at least 1 meal or 2 even if a flight shows J as empty.

I suspect there might be J food on the plane.

I am eagerly awaiting my flight to see what happens.

Maybe I will eat all the extra newspapers!

In the end, I got a meal. I think it was a crew meal. I was told they didn't have a full exec service, but that I had three options - beef, chicken or veggie lasagna.

She came back later and let me know she was wrong; no chicken, so I had the veggie lasagna. She did manage to put together a lovely tray that featured that, a brownie, cheese and cracker, melon balls, a roll (white) ..... obviously not an exec meal, but it was food.

So she deserves hats off for taking care of the customer; I think one of the FA's gave up their meal? And I still wonder how AC could send the outbound flight out without any J meals for the inbound.
