Possibility of Upgrade

Hi everyone, perhaps someone can help me. I'm an Elite travelling on October 7th YVR-YUL-GVA. I phoned in for the upgrade early this AM (yes I stayed up to do it) and was put on a waiting list. Initially, yesterday, it appeared that there were no Business seats on AC 194, however this AM some appear to have opened up.

Is there someone who can tell me what they think my chances of being upgraded are? I'm going AC 194 from YVR to YUL and then AC 830 YUL - GVA.

Thanks

Your chances on YUL-GVA might be better than YVR-YUL. Still J and C fares on both AC194 and AC830.

Currently showing J=4 for AC194 and J=7 for AC830.

IMO you still have a reasonable chance, but really depends on whether there are many SEs on the waitlists.

The upside is that it looks like TATL flight is pretty empty in the back, so even if you don't get an upgrade, it looks like you might get a whole row or at least a free seat next to you...

or number of upgradable Es with a higher booking class ahead of you

Yes, I stand corrected. Unless you get upgraded on the first leg, in which case I believe you have priority over all other Es regardless of booking class.

Success

Just thought I'd let you all know. I was upgraded either yesterday or the day before (leave tomorrow). Of course, they didn't let me know. I went online to check availability of J and noticed that they had given away my Economy seat. My TA told me today that they had upgraded me. So, the moral of this story is a) stay up till midnight so that you can be early to call them (if you're Elite) and b) don't give up hope. At one point, they had no J seats even for revenue passengers.

They rarely know themselves. Most of the time the seasoned passengers know the system better than they do. Problem is, the training the average phone person gets is 5 days and they are then pushed on the phones.
