Here comes the Bride. Consent/permission (from male relative) needed.

But why would a personal video require someone's consent to be filmed.

Quebec differs from many jurisdictions in that your consent is required for anyone to publish a picture or video of you (with some exceptions, for example, for "public figures" and such).

But then I'm just an old white hetero who doesn't hate Jews.

What does being a "hetero" have to do with anything? Last time I checked, gays weren't allowed to board a plane with a covered face either.

What does ANY of that have to do with it?

I'm sure that hating jews is not a requirement to cover one's face. Nor is being "old and white". Unless the gate agents are actually asking how people feel about Israel and their skin colour, then there is no productive purpose to that argument.

Racist? I guess so--it shows another white AC employee making mistakes. Come on! Get your word definitions straight! Remember, this is a video of actual facts (you can see it at that Shalom site mentioned above). There is no voice over or someone saying hateful things. Simply a bunch of people going right by the gate agent without identifying themselves properly. It is your political correctness that is killing this continent. Oh, sorry... maybe that's racist too!

You go through CATSA screening before you get to the gate regardless if you're wearing a Burqa or a Burqini for that matter so you're, at least technically, supposed to be clear of any weapons etc and they verify your photo ID.

On an aside, maybe her passport photo looked like this:

;)

P.S: Passport photos need to show the full front of face, so above is a joke.

Racist? No, but nor does it show mistakes being made, or actual facts, since it is a tightly edited piece and does not purport to tell a complete story. A proper film, rather than what I would call a racially "biased" interpretation of a situation as described by the person holding the camera, would have followed that family into the terminal, captured the dialogue between the individuals and all AC and CATSA people they interacted with, and shown the procedures to which these people were subjected until they actually got on the aircraft.

You seem easily prone to accept the camera person's conclusion as definitive.

I guess you also believe a communist started the Reichstag fire, or that the North Vietnamese instigated the Gulf of Tonkin incident which was used by the Johnson administration as a pretext to escalate the Vietnam War.

OK moderators, please shut this thread down. Almost zero discussion of Air Canada or safety, and repeated comments that belong in OMNI.

Everyone, I recommend letting this die. No way to win this conversation.

I guess the rules were not very clear.

The Harper government has quietly tightened air security rules to make it absolutely clear that airlines must check a passenger's “entire face” before they board a plane.
