CRJ Cargo Hold Warning

This morning I flew from YOW-BOS on a CRJ. There was no skycheck, and no bags were put into the cargohold.

The captain said that the manufacturer had advised Air Canada not to use the cargo hold on any CRJs. Yes, all CRJs.

Everyone who (luckily) did not check their bags shoved everything on board. And everyone freom the first 3 rows had to sit in the back for weight distribution reasons. Bags that were checked were presumably sent by other non-CRJ aircraft.

Did this happen to anyone else, and does anyone have a status update?

I dunnow much about the CRJs - only that not so long ago an Air Canada CRJ landed in trees out east some place, Fredericton or something... (anyone looking for details can check http://www.airdisaster.com/ )

Air Canada had a CRJ skid off the runway in Fredricton two years ago, but that was attributed to poor weather (dense fog) and pilot error. Nothing to do with the cargo hold.

I heard one stalled and landed in a forest...

That was the same one, in Freddie - crew tried a go-around too late, too low, too slow - I don't think anyone was hurt.

There was a notice posted that the interior of the cargo hold was damaged, and maintenance would not allow the aircraft to be loaded in the cargo hold to prevent any further damage. I would like to assure that there was no danger to any passenger during the flight, the fiberglass flooring in the hold was damaged and if anymore weight was added would have damaged the floor further.

Maintenance walk arounds are always preformed at major stations, this damage was found at a station that did not have an AC maintenance facilty. So the aircraft was flown back to Canada for the Fix.

I just want to say again at no time was there any danger to the passengers.

Upon return to Canada the aircraft was removed from service and repaired.

This incident has no relation to the occurance at Fredricton.

I truely hope that this answers your Question.

I knew there had to be a reasonable explanation for this.

Thanks for the info!
