Now that we've clarify EP/SE can access the lounge in YYZ T2 without travelling, can one bring a guest with who is travelling but has no status? I know this is pushing it but is this allow on the rule book?

OK Empress, you've stumped me on that one. I'll check the rules when I return to work on Thursday but perhaps someone will chime in with the answer before hand. BTW I'm leaning towards "yes" but I want to be sure.

Provided the guest is travelling, the guest can get through security. At that point, it's probably not too difficult.

The only thing that would be clearly a non-starter would be trying to bring a non-travelling guest, (other than another SE/EP) who would not be able to get through security.

Ok....I'll be doing this on Monday and to avoid the same situation as last time, where exactly do I get a gate pass?

I would think the rartionale for permitting SEs and EPs to have lounge entry when they are not flying is just this situation: where you have a friend, relative or colleague who is flying (AC or CP) you are not, but you would like to host them to "your club" prior to their departure. What other reason is there for having such a privilege: hey, let's go down to the MLL for a coupl'a free beers..."? (Sorry, too much ice cream and sunshine on Canada Day, I got carried away.)

Would you not go back to the service desk where you were abused last time and now that they have been re-informed of the rules, they will give you a gate pass? As noted, your friend will already be able to clear security with their boarding pass, then it is on as your guest to the MLL.

Now this to me is the logical, common sense explanation. But you are, afterall, dealing with Air Canada and I suppose various staff could interpret things quite differently. And if the terminal and MLL is particularly crowded, they might invoke that as a reason to deny entry to your guest.

Do you think Air Canada should have a landside MLL at some major airports like YYZ and YVR?

Personally, I think it could solve some problems for both the customer and the airline.

I'm sorry it took so long for me to reply but personal matters kept me from work for the last couple days.

There is nothing in the rules covering this situation but I did confer with co-workers and we feel that if A)a SE/EP can access the lounge at anytime and B)that a SE/EP can take a guest when they are travelling, that
A+B should equal C)a SE/EP can have a travelling guest join them in the MLL when they are not travelling.
