Article from the "Moscow" Star today:

"Air Canada stopped serving peanuts on flights more than a decade ago, but continues to give out almonds and mixed nuts in business and first class. Porter Airlines serves almonds and says it can accommodate passengers with 48 hours' notice. WestJet doesn't serve nuts, and has used the buffer zone approach for years."

I guess next on the hit list will be cologne/frangrance allergies and asking travellers not to wear any BO, which I think would be an idea that stinks, literally.
A very stupid precedent! Wait till the other 'nuts' come out of the woodworks and demand many other 'free' zones.

What about people that are sensitive to perfumes? We should have a row for that too.

The article in today's Globe & Mail noted that the complaint was lodged by Sophia Huyer and one other person. So to please 2 nut-cases AC has to offer a buffer zone.

I propose then that the middle seats of the last 2 rows of every aircraft be declared nut-free. This should satisfy the requirement. Even if a J ticket is purchased, the nut-free zone only exists in one place on the aircraft.

Excellent idea. These seem as absurd as the smoking zones that I remember from flights when I was a kid.

On the CBC National last night, they specifically mentioned keeping all nuts (the edible kind) "out of the business cabin".

just ridiculous (and i'm someone with a nut allergy)

don't see how a buffer zone will help in any way, but it shouldn't be hard for AC to implement - it's called Economy - keep the nut dishes and almond packs for business and send the ----- to the back of the bus

K all planes with people with NUT allergies should sit in the LAST row in economy problem solved..
they wont smell the washroom over the stink of the bathroom and no seat recline will make them shut up on the next flight.

Maybe they should make AC's "First Class" cabin the nut-free zone.

Likely the same thing they always do: nod and pretend they're listening to you.

If AC does appeal maybe they can opt for brevity rather than verbosity and take a page out of history from U.S. General Anthony McAuliffe who replied to a German demand for surrender when surrounded in Bastogne during the Battle of the Bulge with the one word reply "Nuts!"
