How to view Preferred Seat availability?
I have a few AP bookings in Y and wanted to take advantage of the exit row seats. Before I called AP, I wanted to find out which exit row seats were available. Both KVS and EF showed no availability. So I went to AC.com and did a dummy booking of each flight concerned and clicked on the preview flight availability button. The exit row seats are wide open!
So I called AP and asked to have my seats assigned. But even their system didn't show availability of these seats! I had to call AC to get these seats. The question is, is there an easier way than going to AC.com to check the availability of these seats? Even the AP people can't view their availability, is this a joke or another AC IT stupidity? |
AC wants extra $$ for those seats. AC is not giving them away to AP award tickets.

To the OP: I don't think there is an easier way. AC has stated that if you want these seats you need to call AC - even for award tickets. Probably two fold: They want to keep control of the seats, and they wanted to implement quickly, so the full IT solution isn't finished yet. |
As a side note, it will be interesting maybe to track all those who have said they will no longer fly AC as a result of this and ask them in 6-months who they fly :) and check their FT profiles too :D ... time and time again it is rant rant rant and no action ... ;)

For Super Elites they are.

EF has the new capability to track availability of some particular seats. So if they can see the preferred seats, I can use EF to track them. But when I went online to check the availability, most of them are still WIDE-OPEN!! So AC must not be selling them very well! |
