heading to Guinea, Guinea-Bissau early August. Looking for any tips or tales, any sort of info that might get me aware what I am walking into

Bissau doesn't see many tourists! I lived there for some years, and recommend very strongly you get yourself to the Bijago islands.

i'll resurrect this thread to hear your views on guinea bissau. we'll be in the gambia later this year and were considering driving into bissau for a couple days just to explore a bit. IAN-UK, i'd welcome any tips, opinions, insights you have.
